100 years ago, my dad, Lou Grubb, was born in a farmhouse in Long Island, NY. He was the youngest of five boys, and his parents were potato farmers. In 1945, he came out to Phoenix. He worked as a night clerk at the still-standing Westward Ho in downtown Phoenix.
Eventually, he found himself in the car business, selling cars, and in the early 70s, he purchased Rudolph Chevrolet and named his first dealership Lou Grubb Chevrolet. He was a gentle man, soft-spoken and kind.
He and my mother, Evelyn, were married only 90 days after they met and were married 61 years when he passed in 2012. Today I am celebrating his life and remembering what a blessing he was to me and all who knew him.

We had the opportunity to go to San Diego this summer. It had been our first trip to the beach since pre-COVID and it was such a treat to be near the ocean again, with a cool breeze, sand under our feet, and bubbles. Yes, I said bubbles. We had the unexpected pleasure to be sitting at the boardwalk, watching bubbles fly. A woman that we pegged as “The Bubble Lady” had three buckets of soapy water and several handmade wands designed to create bubbles of all sizes. She welcomed anyone who wanted to create the bubbles to come and join her. People of all ages came and went… creating bubbles big and small.
What we noticed the most was the change that came upon every person walking down the boardwalk. Suddenly, we witnessed the inner child come out in everyone that passed by. Stopping to watch, smiling, frolicking, or jumping up to pop the bubbles… it was magical and beautiful.
Whenever we take a trip, we reflect on what our favorite moment was. Often there are several moments, but this time it was clear…“the bubbles!!!” we both exclaimed as we remembered the events of the weekend. It came as a reminder that it is the simple things in life that are the most joyful. It is when we find our inner child that we can appreciate the true pleasures in life.
When it comes to my job as a Realtor, the best part is helping others find their happiness, their joy, when they find that perfect place to call home. It really is a blessing.
Enjoy your day, and don’t forget to allow your inner child to make you smile.2021-10-12T10:35:00-07:002021-11-03T12:22:24-07:00Tracy Robinsontag:manifestdreamteam.com,2012-09-20:15269Take Five with Tracy Grubb RobinsonMy dad, Lou Grubb, owned Lou Grubb Chevrolet in Phoenix, AZ. When he first began advertising for the dealership, it was affordable to purchase five minutes of air time on the local radio stations. He would start by saying “Hello, I am Lou Grubb”, and he would tell a little story or share an anecdote that made one want to stop and listen. Then, he would follow the ad with some music to enjoy. Very often, the ads would have nothing to do with selling cars. Instead, my dad would simply share something worth mentioning, worth thinking about, and then pick out a song for the listener to enjoy while pondering the message he shared.
Eventually, the ads were placed on TV and of course were no longer 5 minutes long. But, the idea of “Taking 5” is still a great one. As part of our bi-monthly newsletter, I would like to encourage you to “Take 5” with an enlightening, positive message to ponder. Coming soon…I will be carrying on the tradition of Taking 5 in our upcoming posts, so stay tuned.
